Institutes are subunits of the faculty which, in addition to organising and conducting teaching and research, perform special tasks, e.g. inter-faculty tasks or tasks related to the transfer of scientific knowledge in practical contexts.
Currently, the following institutes are established at the Faculty of Psychology:
Institute for Statistics
The Institute for Statistics organises teaching in quantitative survey and evaluation procedures or in test theory at the Faculty of Psychology. In addition, instructional videos are produced for further developing subject didactics, cross-faculty methodological advice is offered for theses and advice for lecturers (e.g. supervisors of scientific theses) and statistical expertise is made available for research projects at other faculties.
Institute for Qualitative Social Research
The Institute for Qualitative Social Research at the Faculty of Psychology combines the implementation of qualitative research projects with well-founded and practice-oriented methodological training. In addition, the Institute offers support in planning and implementing qualitative-reconstructive research projects in individual and group settings. The support services are aimed at students, lecturers and researchers across all SFU faculties, but also at external parties. A special feature is the close link between research and teaching as well as the constant reflection and further development of qualitative methodology and practice.
Institute for Counselling and Management Sciences
The Institute for Counselling and Management Sciences coordinates teaching in the university courses offered at the Faculty of Psychology in cooperation with ARGE Bildungsmanagement.
