PSY | 45th ESHHS Annual Conference Brings International Researchers to SFU Vienna

From 30 June to 3 July 2026, the 45th Annual Conference of the European Society for the History of the Human Sciences (ESHHS) was hosted by the Faculty of Psychology at Sigmund Freud Private University Vienna (SFU).

The conference brought together 77 scholars and PhD students specialising in the history of the sciences and humanities from across Europe, the Americas and Asia. Over the course of four days, participants took part in a stimulating academic programme comprising 19 parallel sessions, seven round-table discussions, two keynote lectures and a documentary screening. The presentations and discussions showcased the breadth and quality of contemporary scholarship in the field, covering a wide range of historical and interdisciplinary topics.

Over the years, SFU has established a strong profile in the history of psychology and psychotherapy, both in research and teaching, reflecting the University’s distinctive educational approach. Hosting the ESHHS Annual Conference represents an important milestone in this ongoing development and further reinforces SFU’s position as an international centre for scholarship in these fields.
