PSY | Research Workshop on Qualitative Methods: Dialogue, Learning, and Practical Application
On 14 January 2026, the Research Workshop on Qualitative Methods was once again held at the Institute for Qualitative Social Research within the Faculty of Psychology. The event was aimed in particular at students who are working with qualitative research as part of their Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD projects, or who wish to gain initial practical experience in qualitative methods.
Learning from Empirical Material
The focus of the workshop was collaborative work on empirical material from ongoing qualification projects. Students were invited to contribute their own transcripts, excerpts from their analyses, or research designs, and to discuss specific questions relating to methodological decisions, analytical processes and research design. The open and supportive atmosphere encouraged exchange between students at different stages of their studies and enabled shared learning through concrete research examples.
Objectives and Upcoming Workshops
The aim of the research workshop is to make qualitative methods accessible through hands-on practice and to support students in addressing the challenges of their research projects. The workshop is a regular offering of the Institute for Qualitative Social Research, and interested students are warmly invited to attend future sessions, with or without their own material. The next workshop will take place on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, from 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
